About Climate Integrity
Climate Governance Integrity and Anti-corruption
Climate change finance is an essential tool to help address the impacts of global warming and to build a more resilient future. The annual funds of 100 billion dollars will support mitigation and adaptation measures, such as investing in renewable energy sources or building infrastructure to deal with extreme weather events like floods and droughts. However, it is also important to consider the risks associated with these initiatives - especially when it comes to corruption.
Corruption can undermine climate change efforts by diverting resources away from their intended use. This can happen in several ways, such as when officials demand bribes in exchange for access to benefits or using public funds for personal gain instead of investing in projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or prepare communities for disasters. Corruption also stifles investment by creating an unstable economic environment where businesses are reluctant to invest capital because of fear that their money will be stolen or misused. To prevent this, it is crucial to ensure that those responsible for managing climate finance have strong anti-corruption protocols in place which should include strong oversight mechanisms and accountability structures.
It is also important for governments and their civil society partners to increase transparency and public participation in decision making processes related to climate finance. This helps create trust between citizens and government institutions so that people are more likely to report any potential instances of corruption they may discover. Additionally, increasing public education around the importance of fighting corruption can help create a culture of zero tolerance towards its practices at all levels of society.
INTRODUCTION
About the Tracker App
Climate integrity is of paramount importance as the world faces an uncertain and rapidly changing future. With global temperatures on the rise, we need to address this issue collectively and holistically without delay.
To help further these efforts, we created this website that functions as an online manual tracker (with a downloadable app) to ensure climate integrity and promote accountability to enforce anti-corruption and transparency to the pledges made by countries, corporations, and individuals around the world. This website and tracker app will provide readers, climate activists, and anti-corruption researchers unprecedented access to valuable resources that can support their missions for climate justice, fairness, and progress for our planet's future.
The information gleaned from these tools can hold public officials accountable for improving their nations’ climate integrity, making it more likely that governments will honor their commitments under relevant international agreements.

Background
Climate finance is a growing global issue as more countries move forward with policies and initiatives to reduce emissions and build resilient infrastructure that can confront the impacts of the changing climate. As countries increase their investments in climate change action, the potential for abuse and corruption increases too.
In response, Transparency International (TI) -- an international NGO campaigning against corruption -- has launched its Climate Change Integrity Coalition to monitor how public money intended for addressing climate change is managed and used around the world. The coalition will help resource providers understand where funds have gone, if they are being diverted or misused, and promote best practices across governments on providing greater financial integrity, transparency and accountability through capacity-building measures from within affected communities nationwide.
Many organizations are now funding research and initiatives intended to save the environment; however, it's essential that measures are taken to ensure proper oversight and accountability over these funds. To do this, Transparency International's movement has begun monitoring climate finance corruption worldwide and advocating for greater levels of transparency regarding climate-related spending for over ten years now.
Transparency International has built a corruption Atlas and continues collecting and publishing documented corruption activities related to climate finance and governance.

Designed with transparency in mind, the Climate Governance Integrity tracker (and app) offers essential information for readers, activists, and anti-corruption researchers—anyone who wants to stay up-to-date on how countries and various relevant entities are managing their commitments towards reducing global emissions with integrity.
This website post outlines some of the essential features of this app, thereby demonstrating its relevance in helping users effectively track progress and push for positive outcomes.
Tracker App Contents
The tracker app, which is created exactly from the website, has three main components, including climate integrity mandates by the UNFCCC, Transparency International's climate resources, and relevant country profiles (e.g. analysis resources, news from TI Chapters).
Anti-corruption Mandates
TI movement recognizes the UNFCCC's mandates, major decisions, and key policies on climate change integrity aspects and uses them to promote transparency and anti-corruption activities at various levels in society. This website and tracker app will keep posting updates on such relevant aspects.
Transparency International's Resources
This website and tracker app will publish and keep on updating Transparency International movement's climate change governance and integrity-related publications, research, and evaluations on climate finance institutions that funds or support climate mitigation and adaptation projects in developing nations, especially countries and regions that are experiencing the brunt of climate change.
Country Profiles
The information for country profiles includes analysis resources on climate-related projects and activities per country/region implementing climate projects/programmes, relevant climate change activities news, and reports. Also, reports on climate integrity issues are highly sought after and welcomed through this website and tracker.
